Kaiju: The History and Art of Japanese Vinyl Toys at the Morikami Museum

Event: Kaiju: The History and Art of Japanese Vinyl Toys at the Morikami Museum
Date: October 6th

Everyone is familiar with the more famous Japanese television and movie monsters, with characters such as Godzilla having successfully crossed over to the west and had a big impact in Hollywood.

However, further information on Kaiju - as the characters as known in their native country - can be hard to come by, something that is set to change during a special event at the Morikami Museum in Palm Beach later this year.

It will be hosting an evening of talks from Mark Nagata - founder of the Max Toy Company - and Professor James Levy on October 6th, with the duo sharing their extensive knowledge of Japanese movie studio characters and the influence they have had around the world.

Mr Nagata, whose collection of Ultraman toys is the largest outside of Japan - and Mr Levy will be giving audiences an insight into the vast number of vinyl toys that were created in the 1960s and 70s, which have since become hot property among enthusiasts.

Both are passionate about the intricately-designed items and those staying at luxury Palm Beach hotel the Chesterfield Palm Beach are sure to learn something if they chose to attend the event, which gets underway at 19:15 local time.

After returning from the Morikami, guests who have booked the Get More From Your Stay package will be able to enjoy a romantic turndown in their room, or alternatively sample traditional Afternoon tea for two on one day of their stay.ADNFCR-596-ID-800023702-ADNFCR
