Bon Festival at the Morikami Japanese Museum and Gardens

Event: Bon Festival at the Morikami Japanese Museum and Gardens
Date: August 14th

A celebration of Japanese culture takes place in Palm Beach next month with the Bon Festival at the Morikami Japanese Museum and Gardens.

Now in its 33rd year, the festival is inspired by Japan's three-day Obon festival, where ancestors are praised for the quality of life they have given the country.

Guests staying at luxury Palm Beach hotel the Chesterfield Palm Beach will be able to experience a variety of Japanese traditions at the evening event, including taiko drum performances and folk dancing, while a fireworks display will adorn the sky as the Morikami Pond is transformed into a sea of lit lanterns.

The celebration will take place between 16:00 and 21:00 local time and guests are given the opportunity to purchase their own hand-crafted lanterns to float on the pond and include a message to loved ones who have passed away.

In addition, a variety of games and vendors will be set up around the grounds to keep visitors entertained throughout the evening.

The Obon festival is sure to be a must-see, however guests whose stay in Palm Beach does not coincide with the event taking place can still take the opportunity to explore the Morikami, which has amassed 5,00 Japanese art objects and artefacts since opening in 1977.

It is open between Tuesday and Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00 local time, so guests who have booked the Get More From Your Stay package at the Chesterfield Palm Beach can explore it in the afternoon, after enjoying an executive two-course lunch on one day of their stay.
