Event: Oshogatsu Festival
Date: Jan 10th
The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens has been the centre of Japanese culture in Florida for more than 30 years and guests at the luxury Florida hotel the Chesterfield Palm Beach can enjoy one of its biggest annual events.
Oshogatsu is the museum's traditional New Year celebratory festival, with games, entertainment and more on offer in what promises to be a wonderful day out for all the family.
This year belongs to the Tiger and, to pay homage to the big cat, various activities will take place, including Mochitsuki, which involves pounding rice and making mochi cakes.
Another highlight is Kakizome, also known as the first calligraphy of the new year, which expresses New Year's greetings, poems and familial phrases.
Other events to look forward to include Omikuji fortune telling sessions and Shishimai, which involves performances by the lion dancer and taiko drumming, by Fushu Daiko.
Once the day draws to a close, visitors can make their way back to the Chesterfield Palm Beach Hotel and enjoy the perks provided by the Get More From Your Stay package.
These include a choice from a bottle of chilled Champagne, a romantic turndown on one evening, traditional English afternoon tea for two, an executive two-course lunch for two or a late checkout until 18:00 local time.
